Oral Histories from Women in Jazz
In 2004, Sherrie Tucker, professor of American Studies at University of Kansas, began work for the New Orleans Jazz National Historic Park on the women jazz musicians who played in the early days of New Orleans jazz. Her research grew from oral histories completed as early as the 1950s and as late as her own study. Excerpts from these works will form part of the listening experience of visitors to this French Quarter venue.
