Iris and the Goddesses of Carnival
In partnership with the Krewes of Iris, Muses, and Nyx, the Museum presents an exhibition exploring the evolution of women’s part in Carnival from the 1890s to the present. Featured are rare artifacts, including the earliest-known existing Iris queen’s dress, worn in 1941. Original tableau ball artworks; paintings inspired by parades; photographs; and throws of all sorts make this exhibition sparkle with the female spirit within Mardi Gras.
