Based on Amistad’s founding principle of diversifying the historical record, this blog series highlighted women in Amistad collections who made contributions to the history of New Orleans, or who expanded discourse on New Orleans cultural traditions. Women and topics included early childhood education leader Mildred Martinez, civil rights advocate Rosa Freeman Keller, and social worker Jane T. Lemann.
