Building a Tradition: The Multifaceted Legacy of Women in New Orleans Music

Hogan Jazz Archives, Tulane University

New Orleans women as musicians have worked in musical theater, sung in operas, composed and performed jazz, and participated in many other ways on the stage, church, and streets.  They have also been the daughters, wives and mothers of male musicians, as well as other female musicians.  This exhibition highlights all these diverse roles.
