Academic Women, Integral to Tulane: A Digital Exhibition
Tulane University made history in 1925 when it appointed Willey Denis chair of the Medical School’s Chemistry Department. She would be, then, the first woman to chair a major department of any major medical school in the United States. This exhibition explores her life as well as those of other women instructors, who as early as 1887, taught at the women’s college of Newcomb, and others, who made a mark in their disciplines by teaching within the larger university.
